PETTEN - The construction of the FIELD-LAB building on the Energy & Health Campus in Petten is ready to start. The necessary licenses, being the nuclear energy act permit by the Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ANVS) and the building license by the council of Petten, have been acquired.
The nuclear energy act permit allows FIELD-LAB to produce lead-212 and lutetium-177 at the facility in Petten. This license precedes the building license, which enables NRG to start construction on the inside of the building in Petten and the detailed design. The building's front and the roof have already been renovated.
Nuclear and GMP facilities
Up until now the partners of the FIELD-LAB consortium have been working together from different locations. Once completed, the new building allows for partners to work closely together whenever necessary, with access to all crucial nuclear and GMP facilities. The aim is to accelerate the research and development of new radiopharmaceutical products for cancer treatment.
This month NRG aims to start laying the foundation of the hotcell labs, which will be installed in August of this year. The construction is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2022, after which qualification of the facility will start, resulting in GMP license application the midst of 2023 and start-up of GMP production by the end of 2023.
Once operational, FIELD LAB will start producing lead-212 and lutetium-177. However, other products will soon follow.
